Deputy Zoning Administrator (Urban Design)

Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development is looking for its next Deputy Zoning Administrator (Urban Design) to join its award-winning planning team and lead zoning code reforms. We're looking for strong candidates with urban design and form-based code experience to play a lead role updating our Unified Development Code and zoning map.

Duties include:

1. Assist the Zoning Administrator in directing activities of the Land Use and Development Services department.
2. Lead architectural and urban design services and application of the recently developed urban design guidelines.
3. Provide leadership in architectural and urban design for community, corridor, area, and city/county plans.
4. Lead the division’s initiatives to advance form-based codes and standards through the Unified Development Code, design guidelines, and plans.
5. Lead the provision of technical assistance to property owners, architects, contractors, etc. regarding design and development review.
6. Serves as Secretary to the Memphis Landmarks Commission and other design-related bodies, as necessary.
