UMA is hiring up to 3 project coordinators to support strategy, development, and execution of key UMA projects that advance our programmatic and organizational goals. 

We seek motivated, self-directed, and team-oriented candidates who will contribute to all aspects of a project’s life cycle, including project design and strategy, coordination, execution, marketing, and evaluation. Candidates should excel at coordinating a project’s moving parts, completing tasks and deliverables efficiently and conscientiously, and motivating others to action within and outside the organization.

Project coordinators will be assigned to specific programs based on past experience, interests, and skills. Program areas include: capital access, workforce development, and entrepreneurial ecosystem building for manufacturers. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

Project coordination and implementation (70% of time)

  • Provide support and take action across multiple discrete, ongoing parallel projects, incorporating strategic direction from multiple Co-Directors and/or external partners
  • Execute, manage, communicate, and track tasks across participating parties, balancing timely completion with inclusive integration of ideas and perspectives
  • Work directly with Co-Directors and program leads to design project work plans and support project contributors and stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and reporting
  • Coordinate with external partners across multiple cohorts and peer-learning spaces, ensuring proper documentation and follow up, facilitate meetings, and support creation of authentic, vulnerable, and meaningful spaces of engagement 
  • Contribute to impact measurement activities, including data collection and analysis
  • Support the creation of program-related outputs and deliverables (ie. reports, white papers) with clear, concise, and persuasive narratives  
  • Build a nuanced understanding of the needs and challenges of partners and program participants and serve as an internal advocate for their priorities

Contributing to project and program development (20% of time)

  • Work with fellow program managers and UMA Co-Directors to design new projects, initiatives, and strategies, identifying opportunities innovation, efficiencies, and creative solutions. 
  • Conduct research and analysis to evaluate opportunities and challenges 

Organizational Development and Outreach (10% of time)

  • Work with program directors, development, communications, and operations team members to fill in on projects as needed
  • Plan events such as webinars and in-person meetings and coordinate their execution
  • Support network and outreach activities, including research, drafting materials to send to potential network members, and tracking contacts and their engagement with the network

Required Skills

  • A get-it-done/all-hands-on-deck attitude, complemented with attention to detail 
  • Highly organized and comfortable with daily self-management and project tracking, with capacity to manage multiple, parallel projects involving a with a lot of moving parts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong listening skills, especially able to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholder groups and find connections and commonalities
  • Capacity to communicate and coordinate with remote stakeholder groups expertly, using digital meeting tools to track attendance, following-up to keep all informed and accountable
  • Capacity to support the facilitation of purposeful meetings, including setting clear agendas, practicing active listening, propelling the conversation while holding space for multiple perspectives, and taking clear notes that represent what transpired
  • Comfort operating within G-Suite, digital project management boards, and other tools of remote, distributed work
  • Capacity to work remotely and independently with consistent communication to program managers and team members
  • Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to develop innovative approaches and ideas to meet challenges with empathy and limited resources
  • Willingness to continuously learn about making and manufacturing and equitable economic strategies. 
  • Ability to find and develop relationships with UMA partners and potential partners as well as between individuals and groups contributing to UMA projects.
  • Ability to quickly absorb and synthesize complex information into succinct and compelling written products for a diverse audience

Compensation

The salary for this position is $60,000-$70,000 based on experience. We offer competitive benefits including health care contributions, 401k plan with 6% employer contributions, an annual professional development stipend, a flexible and collaborative work environment, and generous time off. 

Education/Experience/Requirements

No specific degree is required. Candidates should have at least 2 years of work experience in a program or project management role, with demonstrated experience in managing complex projects, multidisciplinary teams, external partners, and delivering high-quality products on time. 

We will prioritize candidates with experience working in a mission-driven organization in a comparable role coordinating groups, partners or cohorts around learning, decision making, or similar collaborative frameworks . 

Familiarity and comfort navigating and discussing DEIB issues is a must. 

While not required, candidates who bring knowledge or experience in one or more key issues that impact manufacturing - such as capital access, workforce development, regenerative/circular economic systems, entrepreneurial ecosystems, industrial land use, etc - will be evaluated favorably.
