Request for Proposals: Center of the Research Triangle Region Planning and Design Manual
Triangle J Council of Governments
The center of North Carolina's Research Triangle Region, from Raleigh-Durham Airport on the east to the Research Triangle Park on the west, has six local governments that exercise land use control and plan for infrastructure: Durham County, Durham City, Wake County, Raleigh, Cary and Morrisville. In addition, state and regional organizations, such as the N.C. Department of Transportation, The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority, the Research Triangle Park and the Triangle Transit Authority have and are planning significant infrastructure investments in the area.
In order to create a balanced, sustainable pattern of development in the center of the region, a partnership of local governments, regional organizations and the private sector has launched the Center Of Region Enterprise (CORE). One important part of this effort is a 3-4 day long planning and design workshop indicating the potential location for different types of development in the study area, major infrastructure to serve development, and design characteristics associated with different types of development and major infrastructure.
Four project components would lead up to and inform the workshop:
· detailed, parcel level GIS mapping,
· an educational effort that provides information on the project through a web site,
· a series of meetings on relevant topics related to land development and infrastructure, and
· a series of interviews by the project consultant with project participants.
The project partners will conduct the first three of these components and help organize the fourth.
