Adult fares will be capped at $4 per day or $72 per month under the new system.
An article in Business Wire describes a new fare payment system, known as WisGo, launched by the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) that is designed to make travel more seamless and save riders on transit fare in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties.
The system relies on a smartphone app or card to enable fare capping and streamline fare payment. “The new fare collection system also serves those without smartphones or who do not have a bank account. Riders can pay for their transit trips whichever way they prefer, including via mobile phones using the Umo Mobility app, a WisGo smart card reloadable online or at retail outlets, or cash onboard the buses.”
Fares paid for via the WisGo system are capped at $4 daily or $72 monthly. Qualifying riders can apply for a Reduced Fare card that operates like the regular WisGo card at reduced rates.
