The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), in partnership with the Council on Foundations, is pleased to announce a call for nominations for the 2019 HUD Secretary's Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships. This award recognizes excellence in partnerships that have both transformed the relationship between the sectors and led to measurable benefits in terms of increased employment, health, safety, education, disaster resilience, inclusivity and cultural opportunities, or housing access for low- and moderate-income families.

The award will be given to ten foundations for completed or ongoing initiatives that are executed in partnership with any local, regional, or federal government. The goal is to recognize the partnership process and its impact as a community strategy across all American geographies — urban, suburban, and rural. Nominees will be assessed on: the strength of the cross-sector partnerships; locally driven, geographically focused outcomes; maintaining a lasting impact in the community; evidence and data-driven innovation; and transferability.

To be eligible, nominated initiatives should have been either completed between January 2018 and January 2019, or, if ongoing, in effect since at least January 2018. All entries must be completed using the fillable PDF form and submitted by an eligible foundation via email to [email protected]. The PDF form is available at www.cof.org/hud and www.huduser.gov/secaward/cof. The deadline for submission is 11:59 p.m. PT, Monday, January 14, 2019.

Judging will take place in February 2019 by a panel of judges, and awards will be presented during the Council on Foundation's 2019 Leading Together Annual Conference in Miami, Florida, on April 30, 2019. For complete details, please see the brochure here.
